What better ornament to mark my first Christmas in Scotland than bagpiping Santa?

What better ornament to mark my first Christmas in Scotland than bagpiping Santa?

While on the subject of Christmas music, I’m reminded of this video.  Sure, it is likely the pinnacle of tacky, ostentatious holiday decorations but I love it so.

My Non-Traditional Christmas Classics

As the season comes upon us, the air is filled with the traditional songs of Christmas. While the usuals are nice, I’ve grown to enjoy some non-traditional tunes over the normal ones. It’s really never Christmas to me until I work my way through them.

Therefore, I figured it’d be interesting to share a top twelve (yeah, I couldn’t limit to ten) of my favourite songs to get into the mood for the holidays. Links will take you to a YouTube version of the song in question (except for What the Hell Child is This?, which goes to Last.fm).

  1. Fairytale of New York - The Pogues w/ Kirsty MacColl
  2. This Christmas - Harry Connick, Jr.
  3. Christmas Wrapping - The Waitresses
  4. White Christmas - The Drifters
  5. Let’s Put Christ Back in Christmas - Pat Godwin
  6. Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas - South Park Cast
  7. You’re A Mean One, Mr. Grinch - Thurl Ravenscroft
  8. Dreidel, Dreidel, Dreidel - South Park Cast
  9. Merry Christmas Everybody - Slade
  10. Wonderful Christmastime - Paul McCartney & Wings
  11. What the Hell Child is This? - Issac Hayes (Chef)
  12. Walkin’ ‘Round in Women’s Underwear - Bob Rivers
